Many users with flat feet, plantar fasciitis, or previous injuries find success by gradually reducing orthotic use while wearing barefoot shoes. In regards to socks the choice is yours. The term "barefoot shoes" does not necessarily exclude wearing of socks. From a health perspective, it doesn't matter if you wear socks in your barefoot shoes.
